Tip from a 9-1-1 Communicator: If you and people around you have dialled 911 for an emergency, don’t hang up even if someone else has successfully gotten through to an operator first. Simply explain the circumstances to the operator who can quickly link the incident.

If you hang up, operators MUST call you back to ensure you’re not in need of help. This often takes multiple attempts while other calls wait on hold.
