Mayor Quinton Lucas surprised former Mayor Sly James this morning, dedicating the Sylvester "Sly" James Pavilion at the Kansas City Convention Center, located near the corner of 16th and Wyandotte. The pavilion honors Mayor James's eight years of leadership from 2011- 2019.

Mayor Lucas spoke alongside Jackson County Prosecutor Melesa Johnson, KCPD Chief Stacy Graves, and community leaders, as they addressed recent violence on the corner of 35th and Prospect.

Kansas City is commitment to ending youth homelessness. We’re proud to support three local organizations with $800,000 in Zero Grants through our Housing & Community Development Department.

Mayor Lucas, City Manager Vasquez, University Health leadership, and state officials signed the development agreement for a new 300,000 sq ft psychiatric hospital at Belvidere Park. The Missouri Department of Mental Health facility will focus on competency restoration services.
