NYC is open for business! More than 8,500 new storefront businesses have opened since we updated commercial zoning with City of Yes for Economic Opportunity one year ago — creating a stronger economy and more vibrant neighborhoods. 🧵

America is beautiful, contradictory, unfinished. I am proud of our country even as we constantly strive to make it better, to protect and deepen our democracy, to fulfill its promise for each and every person who calls it home. Happy Independence Day. No Kings in America.

We made it easier to make things in NYC again! City of Yes for Economic Opportunity modernized zoning rules to allow quiet & clean production, helping fill empty storefronts. This means businesses like bike repair shops & apparel production are allowed to open in more places.

The majority of the No Kings protests have dispersed at this time and all traffic closures have been lifted.  We had more than 100,000 people across all five boroughs peacefully exercising their first amendment rights and the NYPD made zero protest-related arrests.

Building homes in NYC is good. Demolishing homes to build freeways in NYC is bad. Putting some checks and balances on New York City Council Members’ power to unilaterally veto new housing in their districts is good. Robert Moses was bad. This is very straightforward.

I’m running for New York State Assembly‼️ I’m the son of a union nurse and a taxi driver who immigrated to New York in search of the American Dream — and I’m running to take on the cost-of-living crisis that’s kept that dream out of reach for working families.
