1/ 🔥 Exciting findings from our collaboration between University of Tasmania, @SeattleChildrens, and University of Copenhagen! We've discovered a new way #microglia interact with 🧠 vasculature, which could reshape our understanding of their role in #brain health and disease. 🧵 biorxiv.org/content/10.110…
2/ Using the extensive 🐭 🧠#MICrONS Cortical MM^3 #ElectronMicroscopy dataset by Allen Institute, we found that about 20% of #microglia form direct contacts with #bloodvessels, bypassing the #astrocyteendfeet layer. We termed these contact points “plugs”. microns-explorer.org/cortical-mm3
