I wrote this a mere 2 months ago. And I'm telling you with absolute certainty: you have seen nothing yet. The violence and the unprecedented means that are about to be unleashed on protesters are something you have never seen before.

Remember what they did to Japanese Americans…

Take a moment to read the tweet QTed in the post below—what he’s warning about is worth your consideration.

We are potentially facing what I’ve seen called the “Israelification” of the United States.

Confirmation from the prime minister, no less, that the BBC's longwave transmissions will end in June 2025. That will be almost 101 years after the BBC's LW transmissions started in July 1924. And it gives me a target for when I must complete my history of the BBC on longwave!

a lovely afternoon break to attend the citizenship ceremony of the first refugee we hosted 6.5 years ago.

From being homeless after standard rapid refugee status eviction w barely any English to now having a good job as a licenced building site lift operator. 1/3

'Don't come here even if you're desperate or else we'll give you £3000 and fly you somewhere else where they'll give you a house.'

That's some deterrent. Job done. Well done, team.

Tonight as NYPD assaults protesters at Columbia & clears out student journalists, I am thinking of this:

Remember this?

Dr. Mahmoud Abu Nujaila wrote this on October 20th, on a whiteboard normally used for planning surgeries, in Gaza. Israel killed him in November 2023.

For May Day, would you like to hear how it went when Paul Robeson, the great American movie star, singer, and activist, met with British miners, and he sang Joe Hill?

Well, it went like this ...

Ah man, I’m sad that Paul Auster has died. Me and Dave bought this book on our first trip to Paris, solely due to him looking super-handsome and impossibly literary glam in the cover photo. Then it turned out he was really brilliant.

Is there anything more cynical than the Evening Standard, pretending to be vaguely progressive every day, to not piss off its readership, but always SOMEHOW arriving at the position of endorsing the Tory candidate every 4 years - even a dangerous and racist climate-change-denier?

Marlborough's most famous manhole made to tonight'episode of ITV NEWS WEST COUNTRY.
The underwater camera shows what hundreds of hours of untreated 💩 pouring from this burst manhole has done to the riverbed of the Kennet, coating what should be clean gravels.
