I think it’s important to be honest about how conflicted I am about assisted dying. But I see patients who want to die - now - because they can’t get decent (or any) palliative care. That is a national scandal. If we care about dying people we HAVE to fix it, Wes Streeting.

If we change the law without addressing the underfunding of palliative care services, some people will ‘choose’ to end their lives because we, the UK public, are turning a blind eye to unendurable suffering that could be alleviated - if only we were willing to fund proper care.
