Eighty one years ago today, this man led 299 Indian soldiers along the beach at Dunkirk. They were taken off in the middle of the night from the East Mole, and spent the next 3½ years in Britain. His name?

I often find myself reflecting on his autobiography. Both of his journey in politics and Islam. If anyone has any recommendations of something similar, please do reply!

I only really listen to historical or political podcasts but, this one is brilliant. Sherlock & Co is a modern take of Sherlock Holmes where Dr. Watson is a keen podcaster. I love listening to this podcast on my walks where I can take a break from life& enjoy the adventure.

Every Empire episode is fascinating but, had to do a double-take when I heard Alexander the Great had fought a battle at the Jhelum river which is in my grandfather’s homeland! I plan to visit in my lifetime and have made a mental note to visit the site!

Incredibly sad news😞 An iconic and principled man. I have fond memories of learning his poetry when I was at school. The British Poem was my first introduction to Professor Benjamin Zephaniah. A poem which funnily enough has always stuck with me.

We live in a dystopian world. People in the comments questioning whether they’re slaves or workers.. They are children.

Highly recommend watching Once Upon a Time in Northern Ireland. This powerful docuseries interviews people from all sides affected by The Troubles. You will also see big parallels with Gaza today too. theguardian.com/tv-and-radio/2…

“They rape [women] to break the spirits of men,” Omonia Kheir, a Sudanese woman speaking to Al Jazeera. Sexual assault being weaponised and women facing the traumatic brunt of it. Outrageous in 2023 women around the globe are suffering like this.

Watching the ICJ hearing has been quite profound. The South African legal team has diligently put forward evidence after evidence of genocidal intent on an international stage.

I made it right to the front of the march today! Really moving listening to the Palestinian Ambassador Husam Zomlot and British Palestinian surgeon Ghassan Abu Sitta, Chair of Conflict Medicine AUB. The strength these men have shown has been inspiring. ‘Our spirits will not be broken’. #FreePalestine

Brilliant double episode with guest Kim Ghattas who drew enlightening links between the Iranian Revolution, the attack on the Grand Mosque of Mecca and the Soviet Invasion of Afghanistan. Time to add The Black Wave onto my reading list!
