The 'best' part of this system is that it means a silver match can contain both people working their way up from bronze, and people who were playing at diamond level last week, creating the most stupidly imbalanced and not-fun matches I've ever played.

It's extra fun when you start a game that's supposed to be low-gold, and you see 3 of the players on the other team have those little badges on their nameplates that mean they've been grandmaster. I've seen entire teams just agree to surrender because it's just a waste of time.

Honestly, I suspect that, like KotoR, Dragon Age: Origins is one of those games that's just not a good idea to remake. Remaster? Fine, polish up those textures, absolutely, but I don't know how you modernise such a janky-old-school-RPG without losing the soul of the original.

More widely, the bigger issue is from 1995 to 2010, 3D games tried out all sorts of wacky forms as the medium evolved, then things began to solidify into the 3D action-adventure format that's now ubiquitous. You can't always shoehorn the former experiments into the latter shape.
