Schizophrenia is an illness For some people this can be well-treated & they can live normal lives & even *thrive* One thing that always holds us back is stigma and fearmongering How do we expect ppl to feel comfortable accessing help when so many people hold beliefs like this?

kind of funny that matt walsh's whole thing is attacking the idea that gender is a performance when every square centimeter of this set and outfit is about gender performance

A new The Wall Street Journal piece reports that millions of kids start on ADHD meds, then end up on a cascade of additional psych drugs for side effects and behaviors. It raises hard questions about overprescribing and the need for more holistic support. Betsy McKay wsj.com/health/wellnes…

The rates of stimulant use has increased by 60% just in the last decade, along with a significant increase in stimulant misuse (25%) and use disorder 9-10%. These are dangerous trends - we should limit ADHD diagnosis to specialist in kids - shift to psychotherapy/social

Theory - GLP1a class of medications will have a positive knock on effect on our culture and food environment that will lead to prevention and a reduction in the transmission of obesity to the next generation. GLP1 will change the food environment more than any diet trend,

Stop watching short-form videos. Meta-analysis of ~100k people shows how it is associated with decreased cognition and increased stress + anxiety. I know this is correlation, not causation but ask yourself - do you feel great after a session of consuming reels/shorts?

Untreated ADHD increases substance use disorder risk by 3x. Prevalence is 10-30%, even higher for specific substances. “Adhd drugs” significantly lowers risk.

If you find yourself struggling with low attention span, I highly recommend you watch Pluribus on Apple TV. It is one of the most morally complex shows I have seen in recent years. 4 episodes in, I still don't know how to make sense of it morally. Vince Gilligan knows this

Any idiot can prescribe meds- takes real clinical & interpersonal skill to deprescribe them. Less is often more- subtracting meds often helps more than adding. Failure to deprescribe main cause harmful polypharmacy. Excellent interview shows how to partner with the patient:

It’s important to raise awareness about SSRI-related sexual side effects but equally important that we highlight that major depressive and anxiety disorders themselves can cause sexual dysfunction, in some studies approaching 70% and that there are effective treatment options.
