Best husband award goes to Todd Yates for planning a surprise, one day getaway to NYC for my 50th birthday!! He completely shocked me and made my year!! It was the best day I could have ever dreamed of!!! Yes, in the daytime picture by the tree, I’m crying! #NYC

This is what 1,000 days of school looks like @WeAreUnionSTEAM!! STEM time to do 1,000 cup challenge, shrinky dinks, and make animals with the 3D pens! We had a great day!

3D pens were a hit with these 5th graders celebrating their 1,000th day of school today @WeAreUnionSTEAM!

These young “doctors” performed 354 successful “operations” on whole numbers and decimals! @WeAreUnionSTEAM

It was her last day as a @WeAreUnionSTEAM Raider, so she reviewed homework with her class. She used accountable talk, asked about their strategies, and encouraged them to share their thinking about “reasonableness” of their answers. Great teaching!

What can I say??? Senior Recital for this kid! We are so proud of all he has worked hard to accomplish!

God definitely blessed him with this voice!

1st 5th grade Color Run @WeAreUnionSTEAM!

Designing lunar landers in STEM Lab today led us to a discussion about forces and motion, design and balance. @WeAreUnionSTEAM

Their guiding question: “How Can We Design a Lunar Lander to Safely Land an Astronaut on the Moon?”These kids rocked their designs, and their “astronauts” landed safely! @WeAreUnionSTEAM

One of our toughest standards is knowing whether to multiply or divide fractions in word problems. These kids did a great job analyzing and sorting fraction word problems and providing evidence to prove their thinking. @WeAreUnionSTEAM

Thank you, Billy Hix, for sharing your passion for all things space with our 5th graders @WeAreUnionSTEAM today! We will never think about “Valentine’s Day” the same way again!

5th grade at @WeAreUnionSTEAM braved the chilly weather this morning to do a TCAP Review egg hunt on our nature trail. We solved lots of Math problems, and got some fresh air in the process!

Last first day of elementary school happened for these @WeAreUnionSTEAM 5ths this week! We had a great week, and looking forward to week 2!
