Early and frosty start to a lorry fire on the M74 south of Eaglesfield.

Longtown Primary School visited yesterday as part of ‘people who help us’. We had the pleasure of showing the kids the ropes alongside an SM colleague from Lancashire Fire and Rescue Service whose grandchild us in the class. What a great way to spend the morning.

That was a solid evenings work! Most of the crew finally got their tea at around 1am after a 6 plus hour shout onto the M6 last night. Our thoughts are with the family, friends and colleagues of SFRS Firefighter Barry Martin who has tragically lost his life following the large fire at the former Jenners building in Edinburgh. Rest in Peace.

Our lad gets his first of the season! All the crew are immensely proud that one of our own, FF Kirkup is making his mark in professional rugby.

Tonight saw the completion of the final day on call at Longtown Fire Station for Watch Manager Kevin Byers. Kevin has been on call at Longtown for 45 years. He will be greatly missed by his crew and community, very few people exemplify service like he has.

Early morning shout in Longtown. Thankfully a neighbour spotted this which enabled us to make sure everyone and 5 dogs got out safely. A rapid intervention by BA crews contained a serious fire from spreading into the main house. Great work from Longtown and Carlisle West Fire Station
