Since today is juneteenth, here's pdf copy of W.E.B. Du Bois's chapter, "The Propaganda of History," from Black Reconstruction. Extremely relevant today since Du Bois confronts the whitewashing of the history of slavery, emancipation, and Reconstruction. shs.terra-hn-editions.org/Collection/IMG…

Although these ideas experienced  refractive responses when offered in early childhood, they continue their insistence in this published piece. We (@nicolieland @crisdvintimilla) are thrilled to share it with everyone. tandfonline.com/eprint/2X5TRS2…

You know what would be way more impressive than merely apologizing for using abusive schools to try to assimilate Indigenous children? Starting a fund for language revitalization with some of the billions the Catholic Church has made stealing/exploiting Indigenous lands.

Citation is a form of respect. It's an integral practice in academia, demonstrating a recognition of the effort, advocacy, and tenacity of a scholar in advancing a field. When done ethically, it is a decolonial practice designed to center the voice of those in the margins.

A short essay by Eve Tuck asks: What is your theory of change? “When we don’t talk about how we think change happens, we are left to assume that we are operating from the same, unexpressed, neoliberal and colonial theory of change.”

“taking the profit out of child care is truly the feminist approach. No one should be generating private profit from a service that most women need in order to access employment.”

the advice to not announce a pregnancy until 12 weeks+ is insidious. pregnant ppl need accommodation in those early weeks, because of debilitating nausea & because they might have a miscarriage. this rule perpetuates the idea that pregnancy only counts if it results in a child.

AskAubry 🦋 🐆🦝 Gendered wage gaps often start in the home. When we pay for these chores, most pay their kids more for things like mowing the lawn but also prevent their daughters from doing that chore. Also, neither gender learns that it’s good to help their partners. sg.finance.yahoo.com/news/gender-in…
