Delighted to have our Infant & Young Child Feeding in Emergencies workshop today at TU Dublin / OT Baile Átha Cliath with Liz O'Sullivan. There was a great buzz in the room and so many people generously gave their time and expert opinion. 🙏 Infant and Young Child Feeding in Emergencies- Ire HEA

We are hopeful of breastfeeding supports in Budget 2025, and want to thank Minister Colm Burke TD and Dept officials for meeting with us, the Oireachtas Breastfeeding Committee, this morning. Our group is a collaboration between Bainne Beatha, Liz O'Sullivan and Oireachtas

Thanks Senator Pauline O'Reilly, Marie Sherlock TD, @violetannetd and Bainne Beatha for advocating for improved breastfeeding support in Ireland. We had a very productive meeting with Minister Colm Burke TD and DoH officials today. Hoping to see commitment in Budget 2025 🤱

💶 Ireland's 2025 Budget being announced tomorrow, on the 1st day of national breastfeeding week 🤱. 🤞 for ring-fenced funding for BF support. Last week, HSE Ireland reported ⬆️ prevalence of BF @ 3 months (👏 Laura McHugh). It'd be great to build on that momentum! Bainne Beatha

Happy #NationalBreastfeedingWeek 🥳 So many events on around the country to support, promote + protect breastfeeding. Well done Limerick Council - Comhairle Luimnigh for re-activating this #breastfeeding friendly initiative. Here's hoping #Budget2025 includes funding to keep boosting bfing rates!🙏

Excellent and straight to the point article by Kathriona Devereux 10 ways to boost breastfeeding rates (today’s budget can help) echolive.ie/corkviews/arid…… #budget2025 #nationalbreastfeedingweek

Delighted to see this from Colm Burke TD 👏👏👏 Funding to protect, promote, and support breastfeeding is so important for public health. Looking forward to seeing the finer details and to building on this into the future. Bainne Beatha BFLGI ALCIreland Laura McHugh

Mrs Sabina Higgins highlights the need for more midwives to provide breastfeeding support in the early days. Mrs Higgins quoted Bainne Beatha and TU Dublin / OT Baile Átha Cliath survey of >5,000 mothers as evidence of this need.

.Roderic O’Gorman TD good to see duration & rate of pay of maternity leave in Ireland being discussed. Tho women are currently entitled to 26 weeks paid leave, the payment in the form of the a maternity benefit is only ~9 weeks full-rate equivalent. independent.ie/irish-news/chi…

Tune in to RTE1 on Monday 18th Nov to hear Aileen Kennedy RD PhD and I speak with Kathriona Devereux about infant and young child feeding in emergencies. Very excited to start disseminating the findings of this HEA funded study next year. #iycfe #foodsecurity
