Interesting to hear the arguments against zonal pricing on BBC Radio 4 Today. One huge error “it’s just the same costs spread differently”. Absolutely not- we’d need 1/3 less new Grid, hugely reduce cost of wind curtailment and build new infrastructure where it’s most efficient 1/n

Greg Jackson (@g__j) 's Twitter Profile Photo

2/n “It’d be a postcode lottery - flat pricing is fair”. Again, nonsense. I don’t think it’d be sensible to create “flat prices for housing” by increasing prices everywhere to match london levels. But that’s what we do in electricity. It’s mad.

Zonal pricing would improve costs for 5m UK businesses, and 29 million households It'd also reduce the amount of expensive new energy infrastructure we need to build, and ensure it's built in the locations with highest demand, not highest subsidies Here's the SMF Social Market Foundation

Anyone whingeing about wind turbine recycling has another agenda... You can't recycle oil or gas. When they're burnt, their residues are dumped in the open sewer of our 60 mile atmosphere Even claims of (highly subsidised) oil rig recycling are ropey energyvoice.com/oilandgas/deco…)

Dr Paul Dorfman If helpful… it’s odd that this piece doesn’t include fact that brake pads on EVs are barely used so dramatically lest brake dust is produced - and ofc, particulates are only one form of emissions- co2 is rather an issue too

We need market reform to stop relentless price cap rises. It cost billpayers £100m to turn off wind farms in the last week. No wonder generators don't want locational pricing. This isn't Octopus vs incumbents, it's consumers vs producers. wastedwind.energy/2025-02-23

Zonal pricing would save Britons £3.7 billion each year on their bills. Other countries have already made the switch & are seeing major new investment and lower bills.

Well, would you look at that... Greggs guess you guys did spot my tweet from last year when I suggested this location for a branch in Wembley Park after all! 🤠🙌🏽

I hear incumbents are hitting the phones to accuse me of lying about zonal pricing. Their claim? That I say costs will fall everywhere- but the analysis shows prices would increase in the SE of England. Maybe they should read our blog on this- octopus.energy/blog/how-would… 1/n

Because he doesn't believe Palestinian lives are equal to Israeli lives. Because he's totally lost his humanity in his bubble where he sees peoples lives as bargaining chips. And because the man is devoid of all principles and compassion. Next question.
