Thrilled to conduct this study with David Bates at Brigham and Women's Hospital and partners UCSF DoC-IT UCSFDGIM Cedars-Sinai Mass General MDs Yale University with support from AHRQ

Planning to attend the AMIA Annual Symposium in San Francisco, CA from 11/9-11/13? Make sure to check out sessions featuring #CPE2 work, with presentations by Lisa Rotenstein MD and Jacqueline You! #AMIA2024 UCSF DoC-IT

These sessions will highlight our team's work on AI-drafted inbox replies across 2 systems and how PCPs' EHR time changes following clinical effort changes. Work led by Jacqueline You and Gabriel Weinreb incl Rebecca Mishuris & others from UCSF DoC-IT Mass General Brigham Emory Healthcare

Fun to “debate” with Rebecca Mishuris S. Trent Rosenbloom Judy Murphy Vicky Tiase Overall agreement that AI will reduce some aspects of burden, enhance pt interactions + joy. But some burdens -note bloat, order and regulatory burden, culture of documentation- will be harder to change

Join us! Should be a fascinating conversation with leaders from Emory Healthcare and UC Davis Health on measuring the impact of #AIscribes

In this Annals of Int Med study led by Christine Sinsky, we show that poor control over patient load, team composition, and clinical schedule were associated with burnout. Seems logical, but tricky to implement with health system consolidation and loss of physician autonomy.

Our first ADAPT event is this Thursday 12/5 at noon PST on measuring the impact of virtual scribes on time, experience, ROI. Featuring Reema Dbouk Melissa Jost Scott Macdonald, Chris Holland and Bryan Blanchette. Register here: ucsf.zoom.us/webinar/regist…

As the #primarycare shortage continues, new research from Lisa Rotenstein MD highlights how #physicians and APPs can better work together to deliver care, including exploring new payment models, developing effective team structures and more. Read more: academic.oup.com/healthaffairss…

🚨New in JAMA Internal Medicine with A Jay Holmgren Nate Apathy Julia Adler-Milstein David Bates Christine Sinsky We show that pt messages remained elevated even after the COVID pandemic, while calls peaked then dropped. Suggests that messages are net new work esp for PCPs jamanetwork.com/journals/jamai…

🚨New in JAMA Internal Medicine with Christine Sinsky We find that nearly 1/2 of physicians work with an incompletely staffed team > 25% of the time. Incomplete team staffing associated with burnout, intent to reduce hours, and intent to leave the organization. jamanetwork.com/journals/jamai…
