Looking forward to an intensive 2 week splitting party for #JC187 over next fortnight w/ Meg Baker Sean Ruffell Ricardo S. Jacinto Lewis Bailey Maarten Heijnen & co. Welcome pack of sponges, cling film and labels is ready, excited to see what’s in these cores! #coreaday #sediment

Great to see Meg Baker and Sean Ruffell from Durham Earth Science and look at some of the cores from the deep water Congo Canyon W the National Oceanography Centre Marine Geohazards & Sedimentology Group - lots of debrites, turbidites and woody debris! Safe travels!

Great to have a virtual coffee meeting with some of the Sed & Geohazards Team at National Oceanography Centre OceanEarthUniSoton across various locations - Here's to many more informal catch ups. Hang in there Daniela Vendettuoli Lewis Bailey Zaki Maarten Heijnen !

Just had a great Skype with Lewis Bailey who has made a massive breakthrough in his PhD project training a model to predict the timing of turbidity currents. Very exciting stuff - this has made my week!

A lot of exciting sedimentology lined up for the next 3 days at BSRG #BSRG2020 incl our own Lewis Bailey Maarten Heijnen Zaki Daniela Vendettuoli & James Hunt . I will present on a surpisingly active submarine canyon at 10:00 this am

Thanks Dr Stacy Phillips for featuring our work with your Lego art! See you all at 13:30 for what is bound to be a great session on Hazard cascades from source 2 sink, convened by @WaterSHEDLab sanem acikalin et al.

After running a lot of lockdown miles I’m very very happy to have completed a sub-3 hour marathon at the Brighton Marathon Weekend

Can we predict turbidity currents offshore from rivers? Yes, according to our new EPSL paper led by Lewis Bailey.
