Really interesting talk last night Chingford Historical Society by Dr Peter Ross who I remember well from the Guildhall Library many years ago. A trip along the Thames from Westminster to London Bridge using paintings and the 1749 panorama by Samuel and Nathaniel Buck.
I started reading, Born. By Lucy Ingles. lucyinglis She is a brilliant historian and a fantastic writer, who makes her subject so easy to understand and pleasing to read. This I knew, after reading her previous book, Milk of Paradise: A History of Opium. Both highly recommended.
