Passing through Leeds on way to Derby and good to see the scaffolding down on the wagon hoist tower - it would be great to see this as an entry to Railway Heritage Awd this year - how about it Wellington Place ? Entries need to be in by 31 May.

I'm glad I could make Gordon Biddle's funeral today. A founder of Railway Heritage Awd, and a member of RailwayHeritageTrust advisory panel for almost 40 years, his contribution to built railway heritage as an author was immeasurable. He died a few days short of his 96th birthday. Will be missed.

Out with Settle - Carlisle RT looking at a soon-to-be-finished project at Horton and some possible future ones.

In Manchester today and first stop is Man Vic where it’s good to see the Northern 🚆 project to put in heritage railings adjacent to Pl 2 is starting to progress. One of our oldest yet-to-be-completed grants.

It's #worldheritageday and we are celebrating the pioneering industrial heritage of the Stockton and Darlington Railway.

Opened in 1825, it led to the birth of the modern railway. 🚂 >🚄

Oh, I’m very sad to hear that. Gordon was a gentle, quietly spoken man of considerable expertise regarding railway architecture. He wrote for me and also willingly gave lots of help when I needed it. I liked him a lot and respected him even more. May he RIP.

Change a-plenty coming to York Station and the impending demolition of Queen St Bridge. Those with an eye on the past will know that it was built in 1877, the contract awarded by the NER to WD Cameron of Leeds for the princely sum of £4,481 which is £655k in today's money!

Slice Pizza at Manchester Oxford Road has ceased trading. A shame as they also did great donuts. We helped with a grant to restore the beautiful panelling of this retail unit, a former newsagents. I do hope Northern 🚆 find a new tenant - it's a great location.

We are sorry to hear of the death of Gordon Biddle, a colossus in the field of railway heritage & author of several essential books on built railway heritage in this country. He was a member of our Advisory Panel for many years & a great source of advice to my predecessors.

This is a great initiative and the Tyne Valley is a wonderful railway.

It's the last week that Queen's Bridge is with us before its demolition as part the station gateway project.
