I really wish people cared as much about the long wait times we are seeing in healthcare (e.g. in our Emergency Departments) as they do about the long wait times we are seeing at airports.

There’s a reason a nurse needs to go to nursing school. Nurses are uniquely skilled, experienced and competent at what they do. The idea that non-nurses can just pick up nursing work without training, mentorship and support is non-sensical.

So privileged to have worked with TF in Vascular Surgery since 2014. Looking forward to seeing him as Surgeon-in-Chief. Congratulations.

The way I look at it is actually quite simple. Pay nurses whatever it takes to stop them from going part time, moving provinces or countries or going agency. Repeal 124. Create a new pay equilibrium. Magically our ED’s and floors will have the nurses to take care of patients.

This is ER nurses week. These are some of the toughest, hardworking and kindest people you will ever know. They have saved the ass of doctors and patients countless times. Their work is quiet and humble but we see you, and we salute you.
