3rd time this year the field has been spread on. The objective is to get as much out, close to the yard, as quick as possible. In my view it's dumping, no different to throwing rubbish bags over a ditch. Local beaches, rivers & community deal with the consequences.

These flimsy plastic vessels are Octopus pots, lost from the Portuguese or NW African fishery. A few reach Orkney every year, after their epic double crossing of the Atlantic. This one ashore in Orphir this week is marked CH.BAH, for Cheikh Bah, an octopus fisher in Mauritania!
