I’ve never tried it and probably never will, but I’d call 48hrs the hardest of all ultra events for elites. It’s “short” enough that you need to legit run and slam calories in ways that can cause awful nausea, and avoid sleep…but just barely. And that much repetitive motion? 😱

Great piece. Really resonates for me as a parent, pro athlete, and former child athlete. Pressure as a kid hindered my progress in sports and in school. I became a better runner and student later in life when I built my relationships with running and academics on my own terms.
