Been watching Jimmy Edwards at the Tivoli as shown on Talking Pictures TV early this morning. Only seen Jimmy in (normally) poor TV & film - seeing him on stage makes me appreciate just HOW good he really was. Funny, multitalented and extraordinary energy. Seek it out on TPTV Encore

Under the last Tory Govt, elected in 2019, of 42 Manifesto Pledges, only 2 were delivered. In 5 years. Under the current Labour Govt, elected in 2024, of 83 Manifesto Pledges, 57 are delivered (18), on track (19), or in process (20). In 1 year. (FullFact Tracker)

The Tory obsession with stamp duty continues. The abolition of stamp duty will simply fuel rising house prices: replacing one barrier to home ownership with another. At the expense of the tax payer, to the benefit of developers. They have learned nothing.

Let's say a first time buyer wants to buy a house worth £350,000. Stamp duty on that is already free below £300k. The 5% stamp duty on the remaining £50k is £2,500. Scrapping stamp duty only benefits people who can afford £350,000, but can't stretch to £352,250.

Scrapping stamp duty is a hugely expensive handout to people who already own property. It will do almost nothing for people trying to buy their first home. Also it's a tax that people hardly ever pay, and almost never think about. I don't understand why people are excited by

It’s a load of nonsense this “stamp duty” policy. A. It will cost 19 billion B. “Young people” don’t pay ANYWAY up to 300K and only a small anoint up to 500K So who is this policy for ? Oligarchs and wealthy people who would buy up the properties LBC Sky News

Kemi Badenoch's plan to abolish stamp duty would put a £24.5 billion a year black hole in Government finances by 2030, according to the Office for Budget Responsibility

More than half of all stamp duty is earned on just 4% of transactions - those over £1m. So abolishing it will help those able to buy the most expensive homes the most. It will help first time buyers and those in the North the least. Figures.

Stupidly, I left my phone, credit cards & railway ticket in the Uber that delivered me to London Marylebone station tonight. A young chap at a station shop let me use his phone several times. Result: the driver brought my phone etc back to me within an hour. Good old London.

I'm sick of seeing " I voted Labour, never again " You were smart enough to see the damage caused by the Tories over the past 14 years And yet you think everything will be fixed in a year? And what's the alternative, Green? The harsh reality is that some need to grow up!

Genuinely, in not far short of 60 years supporting #WestHam , I've NEVER seen a performance that bad. Not going to pick out individuals, not going to prattle about team selection. Just embarrassing, not least of all from the silent or absent "fans". #WHUBRE
