Teeny weeny Pitman Shorthand writing on this postcard of Westminster Abbey. Lionel Wimpenny has managed to fit 106 words on the front and 260 on the reverse. It features in my book Fifty Mysterious Postcards: Pitman Shorthand Messages from the Golden Age of the Postcard.

This week, I have a London theme going on. Today, a postcard of Smithfield Market, posted 1905, with message in Pitman Shorthand. 'Very many thanks for your card which I like very much. I am sorry I have not got a coloured card by me just now but I hope you will like this one.'

I haven't seen anything like this before but Typewriter Evangelist may have. Agree about his terrible posture!

In my London theme this week - postcard of Mansion House with message in Pitman Shorthand, sent 1908 'Have you ever been to London? This is right in the heart of the city. By the way, I think you might drop the formal Dear Sir now, don't you?'
