This day June 22nd (1920) The Chapel of St Peter-on-the-Wall at Bradwell was re-consecrated. Built around in 7th century its use declined & in the 1700s it was used for storing grain & a cattle shelter too. Then not used for religious purposes until 1920. essex100.com

A fab day which started off a little chilly in the American sector. Lovely to see a lot of familiar faces and finally the sun came out for our last evening in Bayeux. I have really enjoyed this tour from East Anglia to Normandy with In the Footsteps

A few more from last month's visit to the Lady Lever Art Gallery, Port Sunlight, Merseyside. 'Hay Carting' by George Stubbs, 1795, a version of an oil painting in Tate Britain. This one's enamel on Wedgwood biscuit earthenware, part of the gallery's large Wedgwood collection. 1/3

We always tell the story of Pte Peter Miller as told by Richard van Emden in ‘All Quiet on the Home Front’ when Commonwealth War Graves Thiepval. We then find his name on Pier 7C and let his sister Emily know that her younger brother is not forgotten.
