I was deeply humbled to visit Nelson Mandela Square in Johannesburg on Mandela Day and to have the opportunity to reflect on the life and legacy of one of the great moral leaders of our time.

When Nelson Mandela visited London after his release, he called the British Anti-Apartheid Movement a source of hope during his darkest days. It’s something we’re immensely proud of. I was humbled to meet his family in Johannesburg today. #MandelaDay2025

Croydon can and must learn from other boroughs to sort out our fly-tipping problem. But we need real leadership to see real change.

Thank you to all who came to the holy territory of South Norwood today. Good amount of contacts made. Key casework issues: dog mess, flytipping and antisocial behaviour. This will be actioned urgently. Lots of support for our Mayoral Candidate Rowenna Davis too!

Our committee members Aba and amir 🌹 were honoured to attend the Labour African Network’s summer reception. The reception celebrated the Network’s progress over the past year and championed African voices in the Labour Party and beyond. Thank you Labour African Network!🌹

I would urge residents of Addiscombe West and East Croydon to respond to this consultation. I am sceptical about the effectiveness of this PSPO as Addiscombe West hasn't seen any additional resources to tackle the problems of street drinking and ASB along Cherry Orchard Road.

#OnThisDay 222 years ago, the Surrey Iron Railway extended from Summerstown to Pitlake Mead in Croydon. A horse-powered plateway (flanged rails on stone blocks), part of the route remains in use by London Trams between Mitcham and Waddon Marsh. Image: NYPL buff.ly/wjRBC9j

Protect Forestdale. Change Croydon. Revolutionise the Council. That was the message residents in Selsdon Vale and Forestdale sent in our community meeting today. Great discussion - thanks to everyone for coming!
