My 12yo has been doing jujitsu for awhile, but I just got to see a video of her in action (“rolling”) today for the first time. I recognized some of her grips from bedtime tuck-ins, which have become increasingly difficult to extract myself from!

The birds are working very hard today to distract me! Saw several cedar waxwings, a bright yellow goldfinch, a scarlet tanager!! and several other beauties I couldn’t identify within a few minutes of this guy landing on our rail.

I think the number of exclamation marks in my emails is inversely correlated with how well I slept the previous night. Like I need the vertical supports to prop my eyes open

2x in 2 weeks, I’ve been on the DC metro when an elder w/ limited English has boarded w/ a slip of paper, directions numbered, asking for help. Both times, the commuting public sprang to action, ensuring they had a buddy going to the same stop. The world isn’t all bad, folks.

I am really sick of COVID. Relatedly, anyone have good advice on how to console a 12yo who has to come home less than one week into the sleepaway camp she’d been looking forward to all year? 😥
