Today, I joined my Democratic colleagues on the National Security/Department of State Appropriations Subcommittee in sending a letter to Secretary Rubio about foreign aid cuts. Our message is clear: These cuts threaten our national security and undermine our global influence.

God. Not only did the Trump Admin give USAID workers only 15 minutes to clear their desks, they refused to allow one to take a picture of his dead wife’s name on USAID’s memorial wall. She was a foreign service officer. How fucking cruel can they be?

The Trump Administration and its nominees are gaslighting us - pretending like USAID is under a "good faith 90 day review" when they've already killed the agency and fired 94% of the staff. It's offensive and we shouldn't let them get away with it.

The reality is that in the 43 days he’s been in office, Trump has illegally stolen funds promised to the American people, killed crucial government programs, and is weakening our healthcare system.
