"peer review is rarely taught to students in a formal setting”. @successprocess and colleagues are changing this at NYU, taking advantage of preLights to review preprints prelights.biologists.com/profiles/nyupe…

This is comforting to hear. My brain moves slowly, but I’m excellent at catching details that people miss when they rush.

An institution earnestly working "so hard to create" a "culture and climate of inclusivity" would not consider hiring a person who has a track record of doing exactly the opposite.🤡

Academic labs need a person to run the day-to-day, a COO to the PI’s CEO. Academia would be more attractive if this person was an explicitly hired Staff Scientist instead of the de facto postdoc, still in trainee purgatory, still only a full-time employee when convenient.

Check out our new paper in ⁦⁦eLife - the journal⁩ by ⁦Pan Cheng⁩ Xin Zhao and the Davoli lab, exploring how aneuploidy/DNA copy number affects gene regulation in tumors 🧬🧬🧬🧬 elifesciences.org/articles/75227

Disappointed that New York University would deny bonuses to graduate researchers who are among the most vulnerable to economic hardship in the wake of the pandemic & that admin would rather split hairs on semantics of FTEs than support the ppl carrying on their sacred academic mission

The common refrain among trainees is that the broken systems will not be fixed because those with power will not work to fix them. This is a much needed breath of fresh air.

Excited to share a new publication from the #DavoliLab, "KaryoCreate: A CRISPR-based technology to study chromosome-specific aneuploidy by targeting human centromeres". Out now in #Cell doi.org/10.1016/j.cell…

Excited to share the latest from the Davoli Lab, now out in Cell! We developed KaryoCreate, a CRISPR-based tool for generating specific aneuploidies. Big congrats to everyone who had a hand in this monster project 🎉 cell.com/cell/fulltext/…

Excited to share some of my PhD work! We developed KaryoTap, enabling high-throughout high-sensitivity detection of aneuploidy in human single cells, by combining custom scDNAseq panels from Mission Bio with a Bayesian framework for calling copy number. Now on bioRxiv:
