The Egyptian Room in Oldham (former) Town Hall is wonderful. The food & drink selection is very good. The early C20th tiling with its Egyptian theme is superb in what was a former court room. It’s a great addition to the region’s food and drink scene. Try it I suggest.

Two red antiquated features on St John Street, Manchester. I wonder if the graffitist was the same person. The first is sweet, as for the second, well, you make up your own mind. That, if nothing else, very positive script, is at the bottom of the telephone kiosk.

This the graveyard of the demolished Anglican church of St Catherine’s at Barton-upon-Irwell right upon the banks of the Manchester Ship Canal. This was built in 1843 designed by Edward Welch. The church has gone, demolished in the 1970s due to dry rot. The magnificently moody
