Bought OTD in 1969: proper first wave UK psych - the product of the getting it together in the country ur-myth. Very found of this - some great jazzy pop songs, a convincing title jam, and I like Dave Mason’s goofy explorations

Bought OTD in 1970: his first album, before the saccharine took over. Concise tuneful songs about pop stardom, femme fatales, and getting an erection. Side 2 is the pick, with the title track, Katmandu and Lilywhite

Bought OTD in 1969: the toughest, hardest Brit R&B lp to date. No quarter asked or given. Mystic Eyes is the perfect opener - a live jam captured in the studio - but my vote goes to the mega reverbed Diamond and the bitter London song, You Just Can’t Win

Bought OTD in 1969: cheap. Pretty terrific soul/Stones/Byrds hybrid with a top 40 hit and intense, punk energy. Picks: Signed DC, Mushroom Clouds, Gazing, Can’t Explain. Surf instro Emotions was used in Medium Cool, great film about 1968 Chicago riot

Bought OTD in 1971: 2/3rds great album - some unnecessary blues and the 78rom gimmick is a nause on vinyl, but some terrific rockers and great tracks like He, Motorcycle Irene and Rose Coloured Eyes. The Grape Jam lp is bobbins

Bought OTD in 1970: this was bashed to hell. The 1964 demos: the ballroom tunes are charming, the first album material is sweetly done and the three forgotten Gene Clark songs are amazing: You Showed Me, the Reason Why, For Me Again. Airport Song great too

Bought OTD in 1970: another crucial teenage record (I was 16). It had the hit that I remembered from TOTP because it was played with film of Dylan arriving at Heathrow. But the second side did it for me: much loved, played constantly

Bought OTD in 1971: the pop album, recorded in 1966. And their best. The hits of course, plus a great opener and closer. Embryonic Journey is a cool glass of water, while the Today/ Comin Back To Me stretches out a fog bound, smoky, ambient romanticism

Bought OTD in 1969: a defining record of my teenage years and an all time favourite that deserves all
the plaudits and more. ‘Write the rules in the sky/ But ask your leaders why’

Bought OTD in 1970: not issued in UK. Found cheap in Switzerland. Very patchy but the Jeff Beck collabs are standouts, as is the Susan/ Atlantis single coupling. I Love My Shirt is ridiculous. The last Most production and the end of a great run
