EU policies are unable to ensure farmers use water sustainably, according to our special report. 🌾The impact of #agriculture on water resources is major & undeniable, but farmers benefit from too many exemptions from 🇪🇺water policy that hinder efforts to ensure sound water use.

Today Joëlle Elvinger and I welcomed Dorien Rookmaker to the European Court of Auditors We had a fruitful exchange of views on ways to improve transparency within the 🇪🇺 and the added value of ECA’s audits for the work of the European Parliament. Many thanks for the fruitful exchange!

The EU reacted quickly to the threat the pandemic posed to agricultural supply chains. The different measures helped contain the disruption to the agri-food sector. 🛒🥬 However, if a similar crisis occurs, 🇪🇺 support would be more effective if it provided more targeted aid.

Yesterday, the European Court of Auditors hosted the Bridge Forum Dialogue conference ''The role of the European Court of Justice in the EU". 🎙️Keynote speaker Melchior Wathelet and chair Joëlle Elvinger facilitated the debate and provided invaluable insights on the topic.

Among the activities for #Pride2023🌈, the ECA organised the talk: 🎙️'Social justice and equality for all? Challenges, support and inclusion for LGBTIQ+ community in the EU and the EU institutions.'

Today, we welcomed the CONT Committee Press, led by Monika Hohlmeier. Discussions focused on looking ahead to our 2024 Annual Work Programme, audit work on the #RRF, use of IT tools in auditing #EU funds, and future cooperation between the CONT and ECA.
