Spruce budworm are on the wing now in much of western Newfoundland

While spruce budworm do particularly well on balsam fir and white spruce, they can also exploit black spruce (especially when the phenology -timing is right)

While sampling in the forest today, we came across some mini truffula trees!

Had a great night with campers & Parks Canada staff in GMNP to kick off #Nationalmothweek Even though it rained most of the night, it was a nice cozy conversation and we still documented over 20 species (not bad for an island in the North Atlantic on a rainy night ; )) Natural Resources
