Why is the Secretary of State for Education making an argument for private schools? Isn’t she supposed to be championing us?

HEED occupations refers to jobs in the Health Care, Early Education, and Domestic industries. And just as STEM occupations don't have enough women, HEED occupations don't have enough men. Why? Well, males are meant to care or nurture are they - why would we want that?

After a tough week this was TV that really hit the spot. It was a beautifully acted drama with a smattering of big musical numbers, some gorgeous drag costumes, fantastic acting, even lots of lovely lilting Welsh. I cried buckets. Really needed this three episode binge.

I've just watched the last episode of Lost Boys & Fairies, and even though I hadn't seen the rest of the series I am weeping so much my throat hurts. it is so, so brilliant.

Why did Rishi come to Torridge and Tavistock to help Sir Geoffrey? Was it this poll the Daily Mail used in its story, a mega poll? You are reading it correctly, Isabel Saxby Labour not just winning, but now surging ahead to oust Sir Geoffrey Cox #creamfirstpeoplefirst

Massive guilt about having a complete weekend off as a birthday treat to myself! When did simply resting become so difficult?

Have some jobs around the house/garden? Thrilled to share a new series of podcasts where I talk to some of the most brilliant people in education - like Jo Luxford - about what they’re working on right now. This first episode we ask “What’s so special about small schools?”

This is such a brilliant listen to remember that small schools are indeed mighty and so important to the fabric and resilience of our communities Thank you Jo Luxford

Mixed age classes are not the end of the world!!! Schools across the sector are running them brilliantly and there are oodles of people who can offer help and advice #bettertogether

Dan Morrow (@moremorrow) 's Twitter Profile Photo

We have many schools with mixed age classes Dartmoor Multi Academy Trust and the children get an excellent deal. There is often trepidation from parents around changing the model but the provision is superb and if you want to see truly superb teaching you will find it in mixed age classes

As always, exceptional. It might also mean changing the way schools try to improve academic standards – a shift away from systems designed to track and drive progress through numbers and grades and a refocusing on the substance of learning itself –

Hello - I wrote a new blog about the teaching of whole class reading, which I haven't in a while. It's over 9000 words so quite a read, but I hope the comprehensive nature of it comes across as helpful, rather than patronising. Anyway - hope it's useful! mrboothy6.wordpress.com/2025/01/03/who…
