Interesting piece on the complicated nature of managing invasive species, protecting threatened species/ecosystems, and policy. Great example of why interdisciplinary work is necessary and the contributions of these philosophers is key! nytimes.com/2024/08/08/opi…

Phew, hosting the SouthernWeedScienceSociety weed contest is no joke! Had 79 students from 10 schools and some great competition. Congrats to the winners and thanks for making the trip to Bburg! Also major thanks to all of the volunteers, couldn’t do it without you!

I am super proud of my career, but making the Virginia Tech homepage for my sneaker obsession tops the charts! Apologies if I am distracted at 10am every day, IYKYK. 👟 Nike don't you need your first professor signed to a deal? 🤣 news.vt.edu/articles/2024/…

Moderators are an important part of successful meetings. Keeping talks and questions within time is not rude, but key, especially with concurrent sessions.

This is one of my favorite papers to assign for incoming graduate students. And, re-reading it for this morning's class gave me some reminders I needed myself. ✨ journals.biologists.com/jcs/article/12…

Work in ecology and looking for a "think tank" type experience and want to meet amazing international colleagues. Check out the Andina non-meeting. I've been several times and have made life long friends and colleagues. Always amazing locations too!
