We can do better than setting professions at war with each other while the enemies of the NHS warm their hands on the conflagration. I'd urge all my nursing colleagues not to support a separate pay spine. I imagine all the other professional bodies will baulk.

Latest #MATADOC research: validation with Coma Recovery Scale (CRS-R). Sat April 1 at the IBIA DoC Abstract Session. #MATADOC is good companion to CRS-R & identifies auditory responsiveness earlier which could be prognostic. Becky O’Connor presenting.

A lot of updates for all to be aware of but especially acute teams: ➡️patients should receive 3h of functional rehabilitation a day post-stroke if they have motor goals ➡️patients should have access to gym, kitchen, bathroom spaces for functional assessments and practise

Thanks so much to UEA Occupational Therapy for having me present at their research symposium today. You made me feel very welcome and great to meet such a lovely bunch of soon-to-be OTs! Not long to go now :) @C_T_K_Chandler School of Health Sciences #ResearchWithoutRealising

Not surprising findings here. Very aware of the importance and value added by OT within an acute setting, working in an integrated physiotherapy and occupational therapy department Integrated Therapies at James Paget Hospital 💚💙

RCOT CYPF Just a heads up, the term “children with neurodiversity” doesn’t make sense. It would be better phrased “neurodivergent children”. Neurodiverse can only refer to a group, an individual is neurodivergent. +identity first language is generally preferred

Told today that it is NHS policy not to tell colleagues if we test +ve for COVID, and are advised to come in and work as normal if well enough. We have been discouraged from testing at all. Don't staff and pts have a right to know and be protected? 😢 #covid #longcovid

OTs help you to help yourself. It's not their job to 'train' you. They teach you how you can own your own body, how to listen to it, how to learn from it, how to work it so that it can work.

My 8 yr old started a conversation with me recently: 8 yr old: Mummy, why is everything you write about, about death? Me: Well I think it’s something that people are scared talking about 8 yr old: But that’s like being scared of sunset, there is nothing you can do about it…
