The clearest sign of intellectual chemistry isn't agreeing with someone. It's enjoying your disagreements with them. Harmony is the pleasing arrangement of different tones, voices, or instruments, not the combination of identical sounds. Creative tension makes beautiful music.

#ProdMgmtDailyTip 357: Create value. At its core, #prodmgmt = creating value: - For customers, by addressing needs & solving problems - For your org, by capturing that value (charging for the product or making employees more productive) Focus on how providing value for both

#ProdMgmtDailyTip 358: Conduct research with "related" personas to get additional perspectives. Do most user research w/primary personas but peripheral personas can provide insight too. E.g. For oral care product for kids, also talk w/dentists, parents, school nurses #prodmgmt

#ProdMgmtDailyTip 359: Cannibalize your product before others do. Competitors (new and existing) are looking to take your customers and make your business irrelevant. You can either let them or you can innovate, even if it means cannibalizing your heritage products. #prodmgmt

#ProdMgmtDailyTip 360: Fall in love with (solving) the problem, rather than falling in love with your idea. The most successful product managers have a vested interest in addressing customer needs, even if it means scrapping their ideas in favor of a better solution. #prodmgmt

#ProdMgmtDailyTip 361: Question the status quo. Ask why things are done by your customers (or your organization) the way they are. Many times the reason is because it's always been done that way, or it was designed around a faulty/incomplete product. #prodmgmt

#ProdMgmtDailyTip 362: Be passionate. - About understanding your users/customers - About solving their needs & making their lives better - About finding new market opportunities - About your product - About your organization - About your team - About the work you do #prodmgmt

#ProdMgmtDailyTip 363: Share what you know. Teaching others what you've learned about #prodmgmt is good b/c - It's a way of paying it forward and helping others (as you were likely helped similarly) - It helps the profession advance - It helps you remember/reinforce key ideas

#ProdMgmtDailyTip 364: Commit to new habits. The start of a new year is a good time to implement good #prodmgmt habits, like continuous discovery interviews, blocking off time for #product strategy or competitive analysis, posting daily #productmanagement tips to Twitter... 😉

#ProdMgmtDailyTip 365: Take a break. Turn off your device. Forget about work for a bit. #ProdMgmt is great, but it's not life. Everyone needs time to recharge. Then, when you come back, you'll be more refreshed and maybe have new inspiration that you picked up while offline.

Idea: Add "emotional requirements" to requirements/epics/user stories. In addition to capturing the desired outcome or action for the persona, articulate how we want them to FEEL during and afterwards. (e.g. Relieved? Grateful? Excited?) #prodmgmt

It's July 1 - the 1st day of Q3 - meaning it's time for #prodmgmt to check their roadmaps and ask... - Did what was on the roadmap for Q2 get done? 😲 - Is what's on the roadmap for Q3/Q4 still accurate? 😬 - Does the roadmap look out far enough (or too far) into the future? 😰

Someone told me that the Around The NFL crew was looking for evidence of Gregg Rosenthal's high school band. It seems like every 10 years or so this question comes up, so I dug into the archives. DM me Gregg or Dan Hanzus and I can share the audio
