This part is important: the status quo is preserved while the parties appeal to #SCOTUS, meaning mifepristone availability remains unchanged for now. #abortionrights #AbortionIsHealthcare

One of the most consequential ways that the Senate can advance reproductive rights, protect LGBTQ+ rights, and safeguard democracy in a divided Congress is by confirming diverse, qualified judges. Prioritize judicial confirmations b/c #courtsmatter

I always enjoy speaking w/ Barb McQuade and really appreciated her insight into what options judges and prosecutors have to respond to growing concerns about Trump's targeted criticism of court officials and witnesses. Listen to the #BrokenLawPodcast wherever u get ur #podcasts.

Interesting that Leonard Leo became filthy rich only after helping to block Merrick Garland's appointment to the Supreme Court, after which he became a multi-millionaire with multiple mansions almost overnight. s3.documentcloud.org/documents/2374…

There should be an inclusive, transparent conversation in this country about constitutional amendment. However we must be clear eyed about the risks of bypassing that conversation and pushing immediately for a convention under Article V as it's written now acslaw.org/press_release/…

Don't miss Jeanne Hruska 's conversation with Barb McQuade on this week's #BrokenLawPodcast. They delve into concerns that Trump's commentary about his criminal cases could cross over into witness tampering and tainting the jury pool. Listen wherever u get ur #podcasts

The Senate confirmed just 6 judges in June, 4 in July, and zero in August. As a result, President Biden has fallen behind Trump on judicial appointments. The Senate will need to substantially pick up its pace this fall if it wants to help POTUS to retake the lead. #courtsmatter

We at ACS are deeply alarmed by the NC Judicial Standards Commission opting to investigate Justice Anita Earls for her remarks on the objective lack of diversity on the NC bench. This attempt to intimidate or silence a justice risks inviting threats +other attempts to intimidate.

Looking ahead, the Senate needs to confirm 47 more judges by the end of December if President Biden is to even tie Trump’s 187 in his first three years. For reference, that is four more than the Senate confirmed in the first seven months of the year. #courtsmatter

Reminder, no one knows how the 2024 election will play out. There should be an all-out effort by the White House and Senate to fill as many federal court vacancies as possible before the end of 2024. #courtsmatter acslaw.org/inbrief/the-se…

BOOK TALK: On our #BrokenLawPodcast this week, Jeanne Hruska speaks w/ Cliff Sloan about his new book, "The Court at War: FDR, His Justices, and the World They Made." They discuss the lessons we should heed from FDR's justices in thinking about today's #SCOTUS.

We proudly #StandWithAnitaEarls, who's played a vital role in advancing civil rights in America. The only Black woman on the NC Supreme Court has been targeted for speaking out against the lack of diversity in the state’s court system. She should be supported, not investigated.

What's something the Senate can do without the House? Confirm judges! The Senate should be maximizing these weeks with a funded government to confirm as many judges as it can. #courtsmatter

After the last #SCOTUS term, there were some who claimed the Court had “moderated” itself. We know differently. This Court was not packed to be moderate. It was packed to be partisan and to push American jurisprudence to the Right.

In honor of World Day Against the Death Penalty, Christopher Wright Durocher spoke w/John Bessler on our #BrokenLawPodcast about why the DP should be considered an act of torture and how #SCOTUS consistently gets DP cases wrong by ignoring the torture involved. #NoDeathPenalty

Nothing in the 14-page document, or the one-page cover note, addresses the elephant in the room: *Whatever* rules the justices *say* they are bound to follow, *who* is going to enforce those rules—and how?
