This double-lane Chick-fil-A project in Denver, which takes up an entire city block, is zoned as an "Urban Center" for high building heights intended to promote a dense urban character. The urban character:

It’s reasonable to believe two things at the same time: 1) This building is ugly 2) This building type is sorely needed and we should reduce all obstacles to its construction [ALSO … #1 could have been vastly improved (by the Developer) without compromising #2]

Something strange is happening in Chiswick. A lot of the people who I was told don’t and won’t cycle appear to be cycling when safe infrastructure has been installed. 🤗

I highly recommend going on a neighborhood group ride. You'll quickly discover which streets are calm enough to be kid-friendly.

I talked to 20+ people over 55 about their ideal next home. Nearly all described some version of a privately-owned home in a Cottage Courtyard.

There is no more important issue facing our country than building starter homes for young families … and it’s what I’m working on

This stretch is particularly bad because the 55 Fwy ends at the signal at 19th, becoming a suburban arterial. Drivers fail to slow down - they're still in "highway mode" - despite several short blocks with signals. With lots of pedestrians crossing, it's a deadly situation. 1/?

The next time someone says: "We don't need more LUXURY housing, we only need more AFFORDABLE housing" ... show them the facts. Pew study: When you build a lot of "luxury" apartments (which are rarely luxurious btw), rent growth SLOWS MOST in older, more affordable units.

While most transit agencies think their job starts and ends at the turnstile, Dutch railways operate as a door-to-door mobility provider. By investing in bike parking and sharing, their ridership and revenue levels have increased, creating a virtuous circle of sustainable travel.

Americans have become so used to car-dependent lifestyles that they panic at the sight of childhood independence. It's considered suspicious when kids are seen walking or riding bikes without adults. 🤦‍♂️
