.Emma Tucker explains reorganization and layoffs in memo to The Wall Street Journal staff: talkingbiznews.com/media-news/wsj…

One of many WSJ layoffs: Ben Kesling was a US Marine infantry officer who served in Iraq & Afghanistan. As an award-winning WSJ reporter for 10 yrs, he was shot at, tear-gassed and spat on. Ben tells me he was laid off "in less time than it takes to microwave a Salisbury steak."

We read Dylan Byers piece on some recent goings-on at @wsj and decided it could benefit from the kind of fact-checking that we here at the Journal take very seriously. Fair and accurate, that's our style! Let's take a look: 🧵

To start, Byers downplays the number of staffers who participated in IAPE TNG/CWA 1096's actions on Thursday by using 'several'. There were more than 150 people in-person and another 100+ people joining in online. x.com/IAPE1096/statu…

.IAPE TNG/CWA 1096's board has authorized a strike vote, and union members have been organizing towards it. Thursday’s action is part of an escalation campaign to get the contract we deserve—reducing it to "a kindergarten arts-and-crafts installation" is uninformed mischaracterization.

Today marks a week since my layoff from the WSJ, which has been my professional home for a decade. I already miss working with my colleagues. Many are like family, including the ones cut with me: @acaldwellwsj Ben Kesling Surya Bhattacharya Adolfo Flores Shannon Talal Ansari Christine Mai-Duc 🧵
