For context, we’ve been practically at a standstill for months in negotiating a new contract, as layoffs and restructurings have hit hard despite repeated boasts of record profitability for the company.

The union representing @wsj reporters has authorized a strike vote.

This is the first such vote in the union’s 87 year history.
