1. Now I understand why border patrol officers take a second look at Nigerian passport holders at the Point of Entry. They look at the smiley face in front of them and then the frowning face on the passport photo. Today, I figured it out - it's impossible to smile...

2. It's impossible to smile when you're sweating, after waiting 4 hours for your picture to be taken. In fact, the smile won't even form, because the immigration officer is also grumpy and does not even care to prompt you.

3. Nigeria is a beautiful country. There's nothing wrong with Nigeria. The only problem we have is US - we the citizens. We need to be disciplined as citizens. And understand our own little responsibilities. Embrace principles of courtesy and shun anyhowness

4. Our Ikoyi Passport Office is our pinnacle of efficiency and professionalism. Everything should run smoothly, however, let's attribute the events of February 12 2024 to human error - arrived at 9AM, left at 1:15PM - just for the system to capture my photo and fingerprints...

5. Now before we blame the government, let's remember that Govt has already put systems in place to make this place run efficiently. But incessant power failure and network outages - that's not Government - why don't we ask their ISP, their technical partners, and the generator

6. And the generator maintenance company. This is not Government issue. There are human beings there - if this was a one time hiccup, I expected the officers (without being informed to) to address the people and at least open the windows for ventilation

7. I went to complain, and the officer gave me an address to write a letter and post (like NIPOST o)...and I asked: so how is it possible that one can apply for passport online and yet, not be able to text or email a complaint online? Or provide status reports ?

8. Power kept going off and on, and I noticed that the systems in the capture room were not connected to a UPS - so there was always this fear of losing data after capturing - I had to wait after 2 outages to confirm that the system stored my data. A small UPS would have helped

8. Also it doesn't help the computers to keep going off and on like that. Oh, and the heat! Kai. I was sweating like a broken faucet. And I wonder how my photo would appear - sweaty, frowny, sad that the status quo still remains...well, we are Nigerians, so we don't complain.
