Moved to mark the 113th birthday of Raoul Wallenberg in Budapest. A fellow diplomat & Swede, he has always been amongst my heroes. Amidst the suffering of so many innocents today, his courage, conviction & compassion remain an inspiration. Grattis på födelsedagen Raoul.

250 years ago today, Daniel O’Connell, the Liberator, was born. Emancipator of Ireland’s Catholics, repealer of the penal laws, he was also amongst our continent’s greatest abolitionists. And an inspiration to the great Lajos Kossuth, who wrote of him often in Pesti Hírlap.

After their first leg win over Shamrock Rovers FC in Pristina last night, FC Ballkani called on our Embassy to thank our consular team for helping with their visit to Dublin for next week’s decisive second leg. Thanks to our kind Kosovan friends. And good luck to both sides!

The CC has spoken & issued important clarifications. The 🇪🇺 EU urges all parties in the 🇽🇰 Assembly to abide by this decision & to find the necessary compromise & majorities to swiftly elect the Speaker & Deputy Speakers. No more time to waste in a political stalemate!
