“This is a socioeconomic virus. The less you have the harder you are hit.” -Benjamin D. Hoffman, MD, FAAP Data shows COVID and MIS-C affecting Black and Hispanic children at much higher rates. We must work to end these disparities and the resulting economic impacts as well. #AAPLeads

And health inequalities, one of the very reasons we are seeing local clusters and exceptionally bad outcomes for some groups of people will just be hanging around will they? until when? When you decide to pick them back up, sometime, whenever, never 🤷‍♀️. Matt Hancock

So schools go back on 2nd Sept. I predict that the true second peak will be hitting mid to late Sept. Please do not let grandparents do the wrap around care! Looking at children as the silent spreaders of SARS-CoV-2 news.harvard.edu/gazette/story/… via Harvard University

It is good to know that asymptomatic cases exist amongst us, but what does that really mean? We need understand the true meaning of each individual positive. Some cases remain positive at 100+ days yet nothing I've seen suggests a culturable sample post 11 days. #COVID19

At what age (in coronavirus terms) does a child cease being a child and become an adult? I would say that a FE establishment is the same as a overcrowded workplace. In my opinion PPE should reflect this. Any plans to address this in Lancashire Dr. Sakthi Karunanithi 🌎🧘🏽‍♂️❤️☮️

Exactly this!👌 of course children need to be back in school, we all know this is the only way forward, but could we perhaps pay a little more attention to ventilation? We have little sway over the behaviour of children, good ventilation will make all the difference. #COVID19

So we've not heard the old 'led by the science' quoted for a while, I do wonder why 🤔. Could it be that the 'science' doesn't agree with their current plans? This Scientist (& many others) are trying to get their voices heard & it's crucial to the success of returning to school!

All is quiet on the Government front with regards to our current location on their response tool! Going by this we should be back in lockdown already.

100% this!! Why are people so fixated on death?? Covid changes lives, some people are never the same again. Whether someone dies or survives is not the only issue here!!

Everyone keeps talking about covid becoming endemic, but as I listen to the conversation, it’s becoming more & more clear to me that very few of you know what “endemic” means. So here’s a thread on how pandemics end.
