Dear old Defra, they really can't help themselves. Hearing a scurrilous rumour that Defra are doing the media rounds tomorrow claiming credit for a whole raft of stuff that actually has nothing whatsoever to do with this govt but was implemented by previous Tory governments. 1.

🤣🤣🤣 Would that be the slashing that was already announced by Ofwat and was directly the result of 2.5 years worth of work that was going on before the election? Bit like the mythical £104bn "private sector investment" then. 🤣🤣🤣

I spent a year at Ofwat back in 2013 working on price controls I’m not remotely surprised it’s being abolished - what I saw astonished me 🧵 theguardian.com/business/2025/…

Tony Benn’s 5 questions: ▪️What power have you got? ▪️Where did you get it from? ▪️In whose interests do you exercise it? ▪️To whom are you accountable? ▪️How do we get rid of you? “And if you can’t get rid of the people who govern you, you don’t live in a democratic system.”

This is just utter nonsense. With Labour knowingly taxing hospitality businesses out of business why would anyone want to open a hospitality start-up? Labour are wilfully crushing ambition & penalising job-creators & this policy is just tokenistic bullshit.

“I think there are two ways in which people are controlled. First of all frighten people and secondly, demoralise them…An educated, healthy and confident nation is harder to govern.” ~ Tony Benn

Keir Starmer High Street shops, pubs, cafes & restaurants are closing at an alarming rate and you are absolutely gas lighting with this post. You are ruining small independents and you urgently need to address this in the Autumn budget Rachel Reeves

3 years ago “We listened”. Then we got into power, shafted businesses (& in turn our high streets) with massive tax rises, and wrote a leaflet (in crayon) entitled ‘Labour saves small business, The End”. This lying, PR-obsessed Govt is an embarrassment & an absolute disgrace.

playing dress up. Those not in the trade can’t grasp how fundamental a change to every element of the business serving food is. The issue here is governments who have taxed the consumer out of the pub. Wet-led pubs should be subsidised as social spaces not taxed into extinction.

He absolutely nails it. 🎯 “We end up with economically illiterate people in the government. There are not fit for office. This is our money. And I’m sick of being asked to pay more and more for less and less.”

It’s important to know what to do if you find yourself in difficulty in the water. Remember ‘#FloatToLive’ - Tilt your head back with ears submerged - Try to control your breathing - Use your hands to help you stay afloat - It's OK if your legs sink 🛟 RNLI
