Leon Rozewicz 🎗️ Clare Gerada 𝗗𝗿 𝗔𝗷𝗮𝘆 𝗠 𝗩𝗲𝗿𝗺𝗮 NHS England Royal College of Physicians Partha S Kar 🇮🇳🇬🇧🏏🎥 Louella Vaughan I would say 4th year is too far. Their knowledge is equivalent to an ACP. Trained to spot common & acute problems and act via protocols. Ask a fourth year about anaemia in CKD, they may use their knowledge to explain the pathology & suggest EPO supplements. Unlikely in noctors

Caesarnotsalad Leon Rozewicz 🎗️ Clare Gerada 𝗗𝗿 𝗔𝗷𝗮𝘆 𝗠 𝗩𝗲𝗿𝗺𝗮 NHS England Royal College of Physicians Partha S Kar 🇮🇳🇬🇧🏏🎥 Louella Vaughan I agree re ACP vs a 4/5 MS / PA. Knowledge is different from experience tho. Medskl , in every aspect, is about gaining knowledge alongside experience to consolidate comprehension. Exp comes with practice. Neither an ACP / PA is trained to the equivalent knowledge.

Ruth The issue is inappropriate use of ACP/ANPs: endoscopies, surgery, PCIs… the NHS in decline is promoting overambitious but underqualified *individuals* to step into roles at the ‘level of a middle grade Dr’. You cant be Dr level wi/out MBBS x.com/guidelinexpert…

ASiT The Royal College of Surgeons of England The Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh Royal College of Physicians & Surgeons of Glasgow RCSI GMC JCST CoPSS NHS England Workforce, Training and Education I have met an ODP student who told me they want to progress into a SCP role asap so they can do the fun stuff. When I told them they should’ve gone to medical school if they wanted to be a surgeon they looked shocked. What has the profession come to?

What is the difference in the prior knowledge between an ACP and PA when it comes to managing undifferentiated patients? Neither have a medical degree. Neither know about the unknown unknowns. Selling ACPs as beneficial compared to PAs undermines the Drs skill.

This is why I tell all new doctors and med students not to believe the ‘be nice to the nurses’ bullshit Be respectful to everyone but pull people up who are rude

The world is split into those who understand why it is unavoidable, necessary and accept the above. And those who seem to think that you can avoid having that discussion for fear of offending the ACPs - with whom doctors up until now have had reasonably cordial relationships.

Don’t fall for the ragebait Doc - This is actually good news for the NHS and I support more qualified nurses over nursing ?associates and HCAs. He wants you to look bad / entitled in the comments. We have our issues, AHPs have theirs too. But this is positive for all

If you’re A level results are disappointing, don’t worry. I got straight A*s / As, went to medical school and started on £15/hour.

Wes Streeting you said that you would act immediately. There is a new job advert on NHS Jobs and other new job adverts online for PAs to diagnose undifferentiated patients. Patients are still in danger When will you act ? jobs.nhs.uk/candidate/joba…

AI drafts a d/c letter that requires a resident and consultant review 😂 Where is the efficiency gain? when it adds additional work for the most senior clinician, and the original drafter still has to edit it! Dr Sandeep Bansal give us a business perspective
