Even after 20 years of documenting the botanical species on Grootbos, we haven’t found them all. Lockdown provided a great opportunity for field work and our Grootbos Foundation conservation team have recorded an additional 26 plant species on Grootbos bringing the total count to 855!

Nature erupts with new life in the most unlikely places… Baboon droppings serve as natural fertilizer to the fynbos and are important pollinators, dispersing seeds as they wander and feed. #InspireTheFuture 📷 Gareth Williams

Pops of colour mark this prolific time of year in the fynbos. Looking forward to sharing the secrets of the fynbos with you on our 4x4 flower safari. This is the Cobralily (Chasmanthe aethiopica), it’s name comes from the ribbed leaves resembling the markings of the Cape Cobra.
