Was never a star debater, but I debated in school and use debate activities in classes that I teach. And even in my amateur, non-POTUS contexts, you see people who prep hard and knock the ball out of the park. Practice makes a difference. Being a trial attorney probably helps.

I live w suicidal ideation bc of my mental illness but whenever I think my daughter would be better off w/o me I remember my friend who lost her father to bipolar disorder. she said in his suicide letter he expressed the same sentiments “but he was wrong—he was a really good dad”
