ON THIS DAY: 20th July 1939 the south transept and its apse (known until then as the Norman Chapel) were dedicated as a Lady Chapel following its refurbishment, which included a new stone altar, a statue of the Madonna and Child, carved by Alec Miller and a brass chandelier.

The Richard III Society joined us today to lay a wreath by the Tomb of King Richard III. On this day 540 years ago, Richard yielded his crown, his kingdom and his life in battle at Bosworth. We commend again to God’s keeping all who died, and to commit ourselves to live peacefully.
