Sean O'Brien Eamon Melia 4. say it was inventively used on other projects which all escaped out the gate bit by bit, all given permission & signed for by officials in Wheatfield Prison. One exceptionally gifted furniture maker was incarcerated there but he was otherwise engaged making bespoke items for

Sean O'Brien Eamon Melia 5. officials. This murderer was later transferred to the Mountjoy campus where he was given daily release & the keys to a top official’s house where he spent his time fitting out the official’s home in bespoke fitted furniture. The top official later ran for public office for FG.

Sean O'Brien Eamon Melia 6. I believe the official, running as a FG candidate got less than 100 votes, popular man. The only prison workshop that could realistically accomplish the task was Arbour Hill Prison. The remaining pieces of cherrywood were transferred there & I was ordered to produce it.

Sean O'Brien Eamon Melia 7. Prison officials tried their best to prevent my transfer to Arbour Hill Prison in the months preceding my arrival because they knew I was honest & wasn’t afraid to speak truth to power. I took charge of a workshop which was dangerously obsolete but I set about the task.

Sean O'Brien Eamon Melia 8. Wood was reordered to replace the stolen wood. As luck would have it, (especially so for the women of Ireland) incarcerated in Arbour Hill Prison was the chief suspect in a number of disappearances who also happened to be a master craftsman. The project depended on his skills

Sean O'Brien Eamon Melia 9. and there was serious pressure from HQ to deliver the goods. The team was assembled. Obsolete machinery was replaced with new ones & the workshop entered into the 21st century. Staff & prisoners volunteered to work overtime, I chose time off in lieu which IPS/Union will say

Sean O'Brien Eamon Melia 10. doesn’t exist, but it does. It took over a year to produce the 4 part interlocking table & 24 chairs, each leg of each chair meticulously routed & bevelled. The insignia of the Irish Prison Service was also meticulously routed into each end of the cherrywood & maple table.

Sean O'Brien Eamon Melia 11. Then we hit a problem. I had ordered the discontinuation of an extremely dangerous practice. Highly flammable & carcinogenic chemicals had been used for years before I got there to lacquer furniture without out any PPE, extraction nor spray booth. I stood my ground unwilling

Sean O'Brien Eamon Melia 12. to expose staff & prisoners to a known risk. HQ officials promised to spend whatever was needed to install a spray booth & extraction system but they wanted their boardroom table first. The Health & Safety Officer for the Irish Prison Service devised a safety protocol so it

Sean O'Brien Eamon Melia 13. could be facilitated. All electrical power was cut to the workshop to prevent an explosion & PPE was provided as a temporary measure. The work was completed & I delivered & assembled the goods in the IPS boardroom. I left strict instructions to protect it from direct sunlight

TheJournal.ie Michael Martin and way he talks to women. Something not right. Would he talk to a man sane way. Doubt it.dont think he have bottle to face then after in hallway or toilet.

Unfortunately, there are very few within the Oireachtas with the integrity and courage of Dr Tom Clonan We all have a responsibility to Demand Better from those delivering our public services. #SpeakUp

Peadar Tóibín TD In Aug 2019 Charlie Flanagan asked Micheál Martin to stop asking questions and simply trust the departmental officials to address Protected Disclosures properly. He did & I lost my job. Unfortunately many lack the courage required to support #Whistleblowers
