Is it a bird? Is it a plane? Well, almost both actually. This is the outside of the new $2.5 billion airport in Ashgabat, Turkmenistan. This capital city is simply astounding. A cross between Las Vegas and Pyongyang. Simply surreal.

Well, this was an amazing place to visit. The Darvaza gas crater. In 1971 the Soviets were drilling for gas and it fell into a sink hole. They decided to burn it off, thinking it would go out in a few weeks. 53 years later….

Getting my Parkrun routine back on track. After holidays, injuries and alternative hikes, it’s good to get back to my normal Saturday morning, visiting a new Parkrun. 👍🏻

I had lunch yesterday with a friend. She was bemoaning how hard it is to take time to exercise, as you get older. I explained that I’d just watched a young woman, WITH NO ARMS, compete in the #Paralympic2024 archery competition. It’s all about focussing, and getting on with it.

I’m delighted to report that the present Mrs Dixon, Linda Dixon, is still excellent wife material, having stood for two hours in the rain to get this pic of me doing the #GreatNorthRun2024. Happy to confirm her reappointment to the role for another 40 years.

This weekend, I’ll be trying to persuade Mrs D to let me take her away for a two week cruise to the Western Caribbean. I feel that she will be reluctant. Place your bets!
